Images and Voiceover

You don't need video to make a video.  You can tell your story through a narration and can be just as engaging showing still images.  Using slides from a Powerpoint Presentation or still images you've taken yourself work great.  If you have a sales presentation you're constantly doing for people, break it into images you can use and just add a voiceover to each slide. It's easy to upload an image and record you voice over right in the console.

Uploading Images - Best Practices

Use Large Photos

Thumbnail images and anything under 300x300 pixels will distort and wont look nice in the console.  You should upload larger/higher resolution images when you can.

Full Screen or WideScreen

It's good to upload WideScreen (16;9) images so they will fill most players nicely.  FullScreen (4;3) images will give you the black pillar bars on the sides.

Image Formats

We recommend JPEG files to achieve the highest quality.  If you need to have a transparent layer then you can go with PNG as well.

Uploading Slides - Best Practices

FullScreen or WideScreen

Use a WideScreen layout when creating your PowerPoint or Keynote projects.  You can set that under "File>Page Setup."

Exporting - Uploading Slides

You can save your project slides as images to use easily in video.  You can create images of your slides by selecting "File>Save As Pictures."

Ken Burns Effect

Ken burns effect

The Ken Burns Effect is when you pan or zoom over an image to help highlight a specific location or to interest and dramatics an otherwise boring image.  It also help convey a message a lot more clearly than just displaying a large image that is hard to digest.

You can create this affect in iMovie and other video editing applications or by uploading into the VisibleGains Console and selecting one of the hotspots to zoom to.

Creating Images & Voiceover

You can record good voiceover on both Macintosh and Windows. However, there are pros and cons to whichever you choose to use. If you decide not to record using the VisibleGains builder, you can upload your own MP3 track to your video app.

Recording Voiceovers on a Mac

To do this, it is easiest to use Quicktime Pro software to record your voiceover (costs just $30). Once open, choose File > New Audio Recording from the menu and record your voiceover as desired. You can cut the audio track as desired and then export it as an MP3 (File > Export), before uploading it to the builder.

Recording Voiceovers on Windows

To do this, it is easiest to use Quicktime Pro for Windows software to record your voiceover (costs just $30). Once open, choose File > New Audio Recording from the menu and record your voiceover as desired. You can cut the audio track as desired and then export it as an MP3 (File > Export), before uploading it to the builder.

Recording Voiceovers on the VisibleGains builder

To record voiceover and upload an image using the VisibleGains builder, select "Add an Element" and choose the Image Element icon in the popup menu. You can choose to Upload New Image and add a Voice Track, if desired. If you choose the voiceover choice, you will be given two options: Record and Upload. To record your voicetrack directly through the builder, select the option and grant the App Builder access to your camera and microphone. When you are ready, record your audio track as desired. You can record multiple takes, play them back, and choose the ones you like.
