Using Branching

describe the image

Branching is a proprietary feature that you can use with VisibleGains. Branching allows you to prompt the viewer in the middle of a Video App to:

  • Ask a question
  • Direct a viewer to a more relevant video segment
  • Break up a longer video by topic

Why Branching Makes video creation simpler

When using branching, you typically break up a longer video into shorter segments that are easier to consume by your customers.  Since the segments are shorter, it removes most of the need to use time consuming and expensive editing tools to transition between scenes and settings.  Instead of doing a fancy transition, you can use a branch to achieve the same goal.

Branching best practices

When using branches, keep the following best practices in mind:

  • Keep the option text short and don't wrap text if you can avoid it.  Doing so causes the viewer to read too much before making a selection, which can cause them to exit the video app.
  • Don't add too many options.  Your goal is engagement.  You want the viewer to select an option.  If you give them too many choices, then they will become confused and not make a selection.
  • Don't branch more than two levels.  While viewers will spend some time interacting with your video app, the goal is to direct them to the part of the video app that is relevant to them.  In our experience, going more than two levels deep causes most viewers to exit the video app.
